Root Canal Therapy
ROOT CANAL THERAPY IN Palatine, IL
A root canal procedure can repair a tooth that has badly broken down because of dental decay. It eliminates all sources of infection and decay and also prevents any kind of discomfort associated with the decay.
The nerve present inside the tooth is known as the “pulp” and is actually a collection of blood vessels and nerve endings inside the tooth. When the nerve inside the tooth gets affected by trauma or decay, the nerve gets inflamed resulting in intense pain. Ultimately, the nerve will die which then causes an infection.
Symptoms you may experience when requiring a root canal:
Treatment process:
Our dentist will numb the tooth with the help of a local anesthetic. Then we access the pulp by making a small hole in the crown of the tooth, which enables us to clean out the infected tissue using a series of drills and files. This procedure generally can be performed in just a single visit, but at times may require multiple visits as well if we require placing antibiotics inside the tooth to get rid of serious infection.
When the tooth is infection-free, the tooth and canals are sealed up in order to help prevent future infections. Based on the condition of your tooth, a final restoration will then be fixed. In maximum cases, the final restoration will be a dental crown for maximum protection.
